Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy:
Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy is an advanced treatment for actinic keratoses (AKs), or rough-textured, dry, scaly patches on the skin that can lead to skin cancer. Levulan Photodynamic Therapy, a 2-part treatment course, is unique because it uses a light activated drug therapy to destroy AKs.
Levulan® Kerastick® Topical Solution is applied to the AK. The solution is then absorbed by the AK cells where it is converted to a chemical that makes the cells extremely sensitive to light. When the AK cells are exposed to the BLU-U® blue light illuminator, a reaction occurs which destroys the AK cells.

Levulan:
Levulan (5-Amino Levulinic Acid) is a medication that is applied to the skin. This medication causes sun damaged areas, precancerous areas, acne-causing bacteria and overactive oil glands to be more sensitive to the BLU-U® light.
Levulan Photodynamic Therapy for Acne Treatment:
Levulan Photodynamic Therapy results can significantly improve moderate to severe acne. Photodynamic Therapy is a safe and effective for the treatment for acne. Results with Levulan and the BLU-U® (blue light illuminator) are especially impressive when compared with conventional treatments, such as topical medicines and oral antibiotics.
